Football Recap: Rhet Packer and Tyson Mcdavitt Pace Franklin Defense

Monterey came into Friday's contest looking for another win against Franklin, but Ernie Powers wouldn't allow it. The Cougars walked away with a 49-42 victory over the Plainsmen on Friday for which the team can thank Powers, who rushed for 365 yards and six touchdowns while picking up 8.5 yards per carry. He was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 54 yards.

Franklin didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Rhet Packer and Tyson McDavitt.

Franklin now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Monterey, they now have a losing record of 1-2.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Franklin will square off against Americas at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Monterey, they will challenge Odessa at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
