Football Game Preview: Shadow Creek Sharks vs. Sam Rayburn Texans

The Shadow Creek Sharks will head out on the road to square off against the Sam Rayburn Texans at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Shadow Creek took a loss when they played away from home last Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Thursday. They claimed a resounding 62-7 victory over South Houston. The result was nothing new for the Sharks, who have now won five games by 23 points or more so far this season.

Tavis Coleman had another great game (as he tends to do), throwing for 194 yards and four TDs while completing 80% of his passes. His passing game has become a key predictor of Shadow Creek's success: the team is undefeated when his passer rating is 100 or higher, but only 1-3 otherwise. Bryce Coleman was in the mix as well, providing the Sharks with two touchdowns.

Another reason for the win was Shadow Creek's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for three sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Giavani Baker, Deneim Scott, and Arin Bernard Warner Jr., who each picked up one sack apiece. Everything came up roses for Shadow Creek against Sam Rayburn when the teams last played back in November of 2024, as the squad secured a 72-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Sharks since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
