It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Winter Park had no problem doing just that on Friday. They put the hurt on the Lake Brantley Patriots with a sharp 3-0 win. Winning may never get old, but the Wildcats sure are getting used to it with their fifth in a row.
Tristan Guitton paced Winter Park's offense, picking up 11 kills. Guitton got some help from Jacob Little-Phillips and his 28 assists. Guitton and Little-Phillips didn't slow down when it came to serving: they led the team with two apiece.
Despite the defeat, Lake Brantley had strong showings from Andres Pacheco, who had 18 digs and one assist, and Efrain L. Rivera Rodriguez, who had 20 assists and three digs. Rivera Rodriguez is on a roll when it comes to assists, as he's now posted 16 or more in each of the last nine games he's played.
Winter Park's victory bumped their record up to 19-5. As for Lake Brantley, the loss snapped their winning streak at five games and leaves them with a 24-5 record.
Looking ahead, Winter Park will venture away from home to face off against Timber Creek at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Lake Brantley does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
