Volleyball Game Preview: Hartford Hurricanes vs. Colchester Lakers

Hartford has gone a perfect 3-0 against Colchester recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Wednesday. The Hurricanes will take on the Lakers at 6:00 p.m. Hartford is coming into the match hot, having won their last three games.

Hartford is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Vermont's top teams: Vermont Commons, who was ranked 18th at the time (Hartford was ranked eighth). The Hurricanes blew past the Flying Turtles 3-0 on Monday.

While Hartford won a shutout, things came down to the wire in the third set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-5, 25-18, 25-23.

Meanwhile, Colchester lost 3-0 to Rice Memorial on Monday.

Colchester was was forced to take the loss, but they sure made Rice Memorial work for it, especially in the third set. The match finished with set scores of 25-20, 25-14, 27-25.

Hartford will need to focus on slowing down Payton Vilmont, one of several Colchester players who made an impact when they last played. She had nine assists and four digs.

Hartford's win bumped their record up to 9-2. As for Colchester, their loss dropped their record down to 7-5.

Hartford came out on top in a nail-biter against Colchester when the teams last played back in October of 2024, sneaking past 3-2. Do the Hurricanes have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Lakers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
