Baseball Game Preview: Kenston Bombers vs. Nordonia Knights

The Kenston Bombers will venture away from home to take on the Nordonia Knights at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Kenston is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.8 runs per game this season.

Kenston took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Wednesday. They came out on top against Mayfield by a score of 8-3.

Bryan Kuchta spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three runs (all of which were unearned) on six hits. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Kenston is 2-1 when he allows at most three earned runs, but 4-7 otherwise.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Jack Schaedler, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one run. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Graysen Bischof, who went 2-for-3 with one run.

Kenston always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .515. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Mayfield only posted an OBP of .310.

Meanwhile, Wednesday just wasn't the day for Nordonia's offense. They took a 3-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of North Royalton on Wednesday. The Knights' loss continues a trend for the team, making it three in a row.

Nordonia's defeat dropped their record down to 3-5. As for Kenston, their win bumped their record up to 6-8.
