Volleyball Game Preview: Southridge Spartans vs. Varela Vipers

Southridge hasn't had much luck against Varela recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Spartans will square off against the Vipers at 7:30 p.m. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a four-game winning streak alive.

Southridge is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Monday. They walked away with a 3-1 victory over Coral Park.

While Southridge might've won, it sure wasn't easy: Coral Park scored at least 20 points in every set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-22, 14-25, 25-20, 25-20.

Meanwhile, Varela made easy work of Keys Gate on Tuesday and carried off a 3-0 win.

While Varela won a shutout, things came down to the wire in the second set they played. The final score came out to 25-14, 25-22, 25-16.

Varela pushed their record up to 16-6 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. As for Southridge, the win got them back to even at 6-6.

Southridge suffered a grim 3-0 defeat to Varela in their previous matchup back in March. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of the Vipers' Jose Santos, who had 27 assists and six digs. Now that the Spartans know the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? There's only one way to find out.
