Volleyball Recap: St. Michael-Albertville Comes Up Short

St. Michael-Albertville was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat dating back to last season. They fell 3-1 to the Sauk Rapids-Rice Storm. The Knights were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Storm apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in October of 2024.

The defeat didn't mean the game wasn't competitive: Sauk Rapids-Rice scored at least 17 points in every set. The match finished with set scores of 25-17, 25-17, 21-25, 25-19.

Abbey Meinert had an outrageously good game for Sauk Rapids-Rice as she had 33 digs and two assists. Those 33 digs gave Meinert a new career-high.

St. Michael-Albertville's loss dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Sauk Rapids-Rice, their win was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 3-0.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. St. Michael-Albertville will take on Minnetonka at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Sauk Rapids-Rice, they will head out to square off against Sartell-St. Stephen at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
