Softball Preview: Wheeling Park Patriots vs. John Marshall Monarchs
Wheeling Park hasn't had much luck against John Marshall recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Patriots will welcome the Monarchs at 5:00 p.m. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.
Wheeling Park is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They won by a run and slipped past Edison 17-16. The victory was nothing new for the Patriots as they're now sitting on three straight.
Wheeling Park got a massive performance out of Bryn Ernest, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with one home run and two runs. That home run marked the first that Ernest has launched this season. Isabelle Thomas was another key player, getting on base in three of her six plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
They weren't the only ones working in the home run department: Wheeling Park lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. That's the most home runs they've posted since back in March of 2024.
Meanwhile, John Marshall posted their closest win since March 24th on Friday. They had just enough and edged out Warren 3-2. The victory continues a trend for the Monarchs in their matchups with the Warriors: they've now won six in a row.
