While Oxford Prep's victory against Excelsior Classical Academy wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Griffins narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Flying Lions 3-2. The Griffins haven't had any issues with the Flying Lions recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive victory against them.

Oxford Prep got the W, but it wasn't easy, at least in the first set. The final score came out to 28-30, 25-19, 25-15, 23-25, 15-6.

Despite the defeat, Excelsior Classical Academy had strong showings from Haley Carroll, who had 20 digs and six kills, and Zhaniya Brown, who had nine digs, eight kills, and three blocks. Carroll has been hot recently, having posted 14 or more digs the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Alejandra Orozco, who had 15 assists.

Oxford Prep's win bumped their record up to 2-4. As for Excelsior Classical Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 3-2.

Oxford Prep has already played their next contest, a 3-0 victory against Kerr-Vance Academy on the 27th. As for Excelsior Classical Academy, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 3-0 defeat against Falls Lake on the 26th.
