Baseball Recap: Mexia Comes Up Short

Mexia was the 17-7 winner over Elkhart when they last played one another back in April of 2025, but their luck changed this time around. The Black Cats lost 14-2 to the Elks on Friday. The Black Cats have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Aaden Cargile made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double. Cargile is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's snagged at least one every time he's taken the field this season.

Mexia's defeat dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Elkhart, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 11-4-1.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Mexia is set to face off against their familiar foe Groesbeck at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Elkhart will square off against rival Fairfield at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
