Basketball Game Preview: Hoover Huskies vs. Oak Hill Red Devils

The Hoover Huskies will take on the Oak Hill Red Devils at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Last Friday, 2025 welcomed Hoover with a 61-35 loss courtesy of Hurricane. While losing is never fun, the Huskies can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' West Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 85th, while the Redskins are ranked 14th).

Despite the defeat, Hoover saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Bella Haas posted five points in addition to seven assists and five boards. Those seven assists set a new season-high mark for Haas. Another player making a difference was Allison Casto, who had eight points.

Even though they lost, Hoover smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in three consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Oak Hill came up short against Grafton last Tuesday and fell 62-54.

Oak Hill now has a losing record at 3-4. As for Hoover, their loss dropped their record down to 1-6.
