A-8 East - Black Forest (8 Man) recap Oct. 3, 2012

Genoa-Hugo/Karval's Tyler Hendricks recorded the longest rushing play in A-8 East - Black Forest (8 Man) this season in his game against Pikes Peak Christian last week. Hendricks scampered for 14 yards on the play and finished with 63 on the day as his team fell to the Eagles.

Elbert extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Kiowa, 42-36. The victory was the fifth in a row for the team.

Steven Mizak and Joe Jantz gave the Indians a balanced attack through the air and ground last week. Mizak threw for 46 yards and two touchdowns, while Jantz ran for 145 yards. Teammate Mizak added to the ground attack by rushing for 90 yards.

Tyler Daughenbaugh made the biggest impact on defense this week as Kiowa lost to Elbert. The 6-foot-0 senior recorded one fumble and grabbed one sack.

Zach Bray was the best wideout in the league this week as Genoa-Hugo/Karval fell to Pikes Peak Christian. Bray tallied six receptions for 75 yards. Hendricks helped Genoa-Hugo/Karval's passing attack out by catching three balls for 18 yards.

On the ground, Simla's Damian Bell has rushed for 827 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is Isaac Janes. The Kiowa star has 20 catches for 254 yards.

Two of the top units in the league will face off this week when the Cubs take on Kenny Book's team. Simla's offense has recorded 226 points this season, making them No. 1 in the league, while the Pirates have permitted only 206 on the year.

Next week's game between Genoa-Hugo/Karval and the Cubs will feature a tantalizing aerial matchup as Jacob Piper tests his arm against Cody Norris's defensive ability. So far this year the Pirates' Piper has 500 yards and five touchdowns to his credit, while Norris has notched four interceptions for Simla.

A big matchup in the league this week will be when Shawn Graves's team takes on Miami-Yoder. As it stands, the Bulldogs are in first, while the Buffaloes are in fifth.

The Cubs took down Miami-Yoder 42-0 last week, the largest margin of any game. Norris threw for 84 yards and one touchdown and ran for 45 yards in the win.
