Football Recap: KIPP Columbus Comes Up Short at Home Against Wheelersburg

KIPP Columbus unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They took a blow against the Wheelersburg Pirates on Friday, falling 43-8. Sadly, the defeat continues a streak the team started last season, making it eight in a row.

Tim Gladney threw for 151 yards on 19 of 32 attempts. Malachi Wilder-Anderson was his top target, picking up 58 receiving yards.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Wheelersburg to victory, but perhaps none more so than Owen Wilburn, who rushed for 61 yards and one TD. Elijah Brown was in the mix too, providing the Pirates with two touchdowns.

KIPP Columbus wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 37-6 loss against Marysville on the 29th. As for Wheelersburg, they have also already played their next matchup, a 10-7 win against Archbishop McNicholas on the 29th.
