Basketball Recap: Gilbert Classical Academy's Undefeated Season over After Five Games

After flying high against St. John Paul II Catholic on Friday, Gilbert Classical Academy came back down to earth. The Spartans fell just short of the Veritas Prep Falcons by a score of 51-48 on Saturday. The contest marked the Spartans' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Will Barrett produced another solid performance shooting 64% from the field en route to 14 points and six boards for Veritas Prep. Barrett is on a roll when it comes to field goal percentage, as he's posted one of at least 53% in the last six games he's played dating back to last season. Jack Mason was another key player, putting up 15 points and seven rebounds.

Having lost for the first time this season, Gilbert Classical Academy fell to 4-1. As for Veritas Prep, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-1.

Looking ahead, Gilbert Classical Academy will challenge Trivium Prep at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Veritas Prep, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 67-48 victory against Madison Highland Prep on the 29th.
