Softball Recap: South Point Find Success

South Point won the last time they faced Portsmouth and things went their way on Thursday too. The Pointers walked away with an 8-3 victory over the Trojans. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Pointers.

Kota Copley made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching seven innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off eight hits. Copley was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs. She has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last six times she's played.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kaylee Stidham, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. Another player making a difference was Adyson Copley, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double.

South Point's record is now 18-7. As for Portsmouth, they now have a losing record of 11-12.

Looking ahead, South Point will challenge Symmes Valley at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. The Vikings' pitching crew has only allowed 1.6 runs per game this season, so the Pointers' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Portsmouth, they will be playing at home against Waverly at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The Tigers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.33 runs per game on average), something the Trojans will no doubt try to take advantage of.
