Soccer Recap: Liberty Falls Short Against Ranked Campo Verde

On Thursday, Liberty faced Campo Verde in a battle between two of the state's top teams. The Liberty Lions took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Campo Verde Coyotes. The game was a 0-0 toss-up at halftime, but the Lions couldn't quite close it out.

Liberty moved to 4-4 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak. As for Campo Verde, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 5-2-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Liberty will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Cibola at 6:00 p.m. on January 10, 2025. Campo Verde and Saguaro will round out the year against one another at at 9:30 a.m. on Friday. Campo Verde is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 2.9 goals per game this season.
