Softball Recap: Civic Memorial Takes a Loss

Civic Memorial suffered their closest loss since April 22, 2024 on Wednesday. They fell just short of the Mascoutah Indians by a score of 5-3. The Eagles were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Indians earlier this season, when they won 12-7.

Civic Memorial saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Skylar Johnson, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI. Another was Bella Thien, who went 3-for-4 with one run.

This is the second loss in a row for Civic Memorial and nudges their season record down to 12-7. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 14-2 Waterloo (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 74.3% over those games). As for Mascoutah, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 11-7.

Coming up, Civic Memorial will be playing at home against Breese Central at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Mascoutah, they will venture away from home to square off against Waterloo at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
