Basketball Recap: Monte Vista Christian Starts Season with Victory at Home

Monte Vista Christian gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Monday. They secured a 65-59 W over the San Lorenzo Valley Cougars. The Mustangs haven't had any issues with the Cougars recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

Leading Monte Vista Christian to victory were Matteo Vidal and Go Kamishita. Vidal posted 25 points and seven boards, while Kamishita almost dropped a double-double with 19 points and nine assists. That's the most rebounds Vidal has posted since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Gabriel White, who went 5-for-9 on his way to 11 points and seven boards.

Monte Vista Christian didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 77-60 win against Gilroy on the 25th. As for San Lorenzo Valley, they will be playing at home against North Monterey County at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
