Game recap: DeSoto High School Football Team tops Bowie

ARLINGTON, Texas - DeSoto (De Soto, Texas) snapped the 10-game winning streak of Bowie (Arlington, Texas), with a 24-6 victory on Saturday.

After taking the lead on a field goal by Francisco Obregon in the first quarter, the Eagles led 10-6 at the half.

DeSoto expanded its lead to 11 points entering the fourth quarter. DHS's lone score in the quarter came on a Desmond White touchdown pass to Dontre Wilson.



With the win the De Soto school extended its winning streak to 13 games. The Eagles defeated the Cowboys 42-14 last week.

Wilson was the top performer for DeSoto. The senior running back ran for two touchdowns and caught one touchdown. A member of the Top 25 Running Backs, Wilson has now scored five touchdowns on the season.

Malik Tipler made a difference for the Volunteers. The senior ran for one touchdown.

Bowie's lone touchdown came on a 6-yard run by Tipler in the second quarter.

DHS entered the contest giving up 20.8 points per game this year. The Eagles held firm on the defensive front, and kept BHS well below the 46.4 points it had been averaging per game.

The defeat comes as a step back for Bowie, which notched a 31-14 victory over Franklin in its previous outing.
