Football Recap: Yazoo City Comes Up Short

Yazoo City extended their losing streak to three on Friday, dropping them down to 2-4. They were beaten by the Louisville Wildcats 42-8. The game marked the Indians' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

As for Louisville, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-2. That 34 point margin sets a new team best for them this season.

Zaiden Jernigan continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 51 yards and three scores on only seven carries, while also picking up 52 receiving yards and one TD. Louisville is undefeated when Jernigan posts two or more rushing touchdowns, but 1-2 otherwise. Triston Edwards was another key player, throwing for 202 yards and three touchdowns while completing 87.5% of his passes.

Coming up, Yazoo City will face off against Greenwood at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Bulldogs' defense has only allowed 13.7 points per game this season, so the Indians' offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Louisville, they will take on Kosciusko at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Wildcats will need to watch out since the Whippets have now posted at least 31 points every time they've taken the field this season.
