Recap: Bethany Bronchos vs. Morris Catholic Crusaders
The Bethany Bronchos are ranked highly in their home state, and on Monday they took on another highly ranked team in the form of the Morris Catholic Crusaders. Bethany took a 67-63 hit to the loss column at the hands of Morris Catholic. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Bethany's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Keziah Lofton, who scored 24 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. Lofton is on a roll when it comes to points, as she's now scored 15 or more in the last three games she's played. Kayten Donley was another key contributor, scoring 21 points along with eight rebounds and three blocks.
Leading Morris Catholic to victory were Mya Pauldo and Mia Pauldo. Pauldo scored 22 points along with five assists and five rebounds, while Pauldo scored 23 points along with nine assists and five rebounds. Pauldo is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jacqueline Edelman, who scored eight points.
This is the second loss in a row for Bethany and nudges their season record down to 9-4. As for Morris Catholic, the win for they keeps them at an undefeated 13-0.
Bethany will be staying on the road on Thursday to face off against Enid at 1:00 p.m. on January 18th. Enid will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Oklahoma Rankings (they are ranked 189th, while Bethany is ranked sixth). As for Morris Catholic, they will head out on the road to challenge St. Rose at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday.
