Softball Game Preview: Bear Lake Bears vs. Teton Timberwolves

The Bear Lake Bears will square off against the Teton Timberwolves at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Bear Lake is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.6 runs per game this season.

Bear Lake will bounce into Thursday's game after beating Preston, who they had gone 0-4 against in their four prior meetings. The Bears came out on top against the Indians by a score of 11-6 on Wednesday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Bears.

Brooklynn Crockett spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and three unearned) runs on six hits and racked up nine Ks.

On the hitting side, Kambria Romrell was incredible, scoring two runs while going 3-for-4. Abby Humpherys was another key player, scoring a run while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.

Meanwhile, Teton unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Saturday. They came up short against Kimberly, falling 17-8.

Kara Webster was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was Jimmi Williamson, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2.

Teton's defeat dropped their record down to 5-5. As for Bear Lake, their victory bumped their record up to 6-8.

Thursday's match might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Bear Lake has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .435. However, it's not like Teton struggles in that department as they've averaged .542. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.

Bear Lake was able to grind out a solid win over Teton in their previous matchup back in April of 2015, winning 11-8. Do the Bears have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Timberwolves turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
