Baseball Recap: Zion Christian Academy Wins Going Away Against Clarksville Christian

Zion Christian Academy was handed a heart-breaking two-run defeat in their last match, but they sure didn't let that happen against Clarksville Christian on Saturday. Zion Christian Academy put the hurt on Clarksville Christian with a sharp 12-2 victory. This was payback for the Eagles, who suffered a 9-4 loss the last time these two teams met.

Brennan Targgart made a big impact no matter where he played. He tossed five innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. Targgart was even better at the plate, going 2-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple. That triple marked the first that he hit this season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Carson Boylan, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI. He has become a key player for Zion Christian Academy: the team is 4-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 2-6 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Jack Handley, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Zion Christian Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .435. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Zion Christian Academy's win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 6-7. As for Clarksville Christian, they now have a losing record of 1-2.
