Football Recap: Artesia Bulldogs vs. Lovington Wildcats        
        
		
             On Friday, Artesia faced Lovington in a battle between two of the state's top teams. The Artesia Bulldogs took their  contest on the road  with ease, bagging  a  57-21 victory over the Lovington Wildcats. 57 seems to be a good number for the Bulldogs as the  team scooped up a  win with the same number of  points in their previous game.
  Frankie Galindo continued  his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 142 yards and three touchdowns on only 12 carries, while also picking up 65 receiving yards and a touchdown. That's the most  rushing yards  he has posted since back in September of 2023. Another player making a difference was  Izac Cazares, who threw for 174 yards and three touchdowns on only 15 passes.
 Artesia's defense was in the mix too, especially the secondary: they snagged three passes before it was all said and done. It was truly a group effort as  Charlie Campbell,  Edel Villa,  and  Ayden Huffman picked up one apiece. Campbell also  snagged  an  interception, which is notable because Artesia is undefeated when he posts  at  least  one  interception, but 1-2 otherwise.
 Lovington lost  despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being   Jayden Gutierrez, who picked up 166 receiving yards and a touchdown. Gutierrez was no stranger to the big play, connecting on a big catch that went for 57 yards.  Mathew Prudencio was another key player, having thrown for 308 yards and two touchdowns.
 The  victory (which was Artesia's third in a row) raised their record to 4-2. As for Lovington, their loss  ended  a  seven-game streak of wins at home  dating back to last season and  dropped them to 5-1.
 Artesia will head out on the road to  face off against  Santa Teresa  at 7:00  p.m.  on Thursday. Artesia is facing Santa Teresa at the right time seeing as Santa Teresa is stuck on  a  five-game losing streak. As for Lovington, they will look to defend their home field  on Friday against Mayfield  at 6:00  p.m.
