Softball Game Preview: Tamaqua Blue Raiders vs. Blue Mountain Eagles

For the second straight game, Tamaqua will face off against Blue Mountain. The Blue Raiders will host the Eagles at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Tamaqua 3, Blue Mountain 1.9) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Tamaqua took a 18-run defeat the last time they faced off against Blue Mountain, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Blue Raiders never let the Eagles get on the board and left with a 1-0 victory on Monday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Blue Raiders.

For Blue Mountain's part, Chloe Brown spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on four hits and racked up 16 Ks. Those 16 strikeouts set a new season-high mark for Brown.

On the hitting side, Blue Mountain saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Addyson Fishburn, who went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases. Fishburn is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games she's played. Anna Borden also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Blue Mountain's loss dropped their record down to 11-4. As for Tamaqua, their win bumped their record up to 9-5-1.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Tamaqua has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 5.7 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Blue Mountain struggles in that department as they've been averaging 4.1 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
