Basketball Recap: Ximena Miranda Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Cotopaxi

After losing to Cotopaxi the last time they met, Center decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Center Vikings walked away with a 40-32 victory over the Cotopaxi Pirates on Saturday. The score was all tied up 16-16 at the break, but the Vikings were the better team in the second half.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Center to victory, but perhaps none more so than Ximena Miranda, who posted eight points and nine rebounds. That's the most boards Miranda has posted since back in December of 2024. Emiliana Valdez was another key player, putting up ten points.

Center's record now sits at 13-5. As for Cotopaxi, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-5.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Center will face off against Sanford at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Sanford will roll in looking for their 12th straight win, something Center surely won't give up without a fight. As for Cotopaxi, they will square off against Manzanola at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Cotopaxi's defense has only allowed 25.9 points per game this season, so Manzanola's offense will have their work cut out for them.
