Basketball Recap: Odyssey Institute Takes a Loss

Odyssey Institute lost against ALA - West Foothills back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The Odyssey Institute Minotaur were dealt a 61-11 defeat at the hands of the ALA - West Foothills Guardians. While losing is never fun, the Minotaur can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 265th, while the Guardians are ranked 101st).

Shelby Hunt was Odyssey Institute's leading scorer, having posted six points. Hunt also led the team in rebounds with nine.

Izabella Juarez was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 22 points and 11 steals for ALA - West Foothills. Juarez's evening made it 18 games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. Addyson McFarland was another key player, going 5 of 7 en route to 10 points.

Odyssey Institute has been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-13 record this season. As for ALA - West Foothills, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 13-7.

Odyssey Institute wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 37-29 loss against Kingman on the 31st. As for ALA - West Foothills, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, an 84-14 win against Tonopah Valley on the 31st.
