Volleyball Game Preview: Deer Valley Skyhawks vs. Goldwater Bulldogs

Deer Valley has gone 8-1 against Goldwater recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Skyhawks will head out to square off against the Bulldogs at 5:00 p.m. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Deer Valley comes in on six and Goldwater on eight.

Deer Valley extended their home winning streak to eight games thanks to a huge performance from Seath Brightwell. The Skyhawks blew past Cactus 3-0 on Monday for which the team can thank Brightwell, who had 14 digs and one assist. He is on a roll when it comes to digs, as he's now had 14 or more in each of the last four games he's played.

Deer Valley walked away with the victory (and looked especially good in the third set). The final score came out to 25-16, 25-16, 25-12.

Meanwhile, Goldwater hadn't done well against Cactus recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Bulldogs walked away with a 3-1 win over the Cobras.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 26-24, 19-25, 25-15, 25-14.

Deer Valley's record is now 24-8. As for Goldwater, their record now sits at 15-5.

Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Tuesday's matchup: Deer Valley has really dialed in their serving this season, having averaged 8.6 aces per game. However, it's not like Goldwater struggles in that department as they've been averaging 8.7 aces. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.

Deer Valley couldn't quite get it done against Goldwater in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 as they fell 3-1. Can the Skyhawks avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
