Football Recap: Pleasant Valley Starts off Right with Win over Central Catholic + How To Watch

Pleasant Valley had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They blew past the Central Catholic Raiders 41-21 on Friday. The game was close at halftime, but the Vikings turned on the heat in the second half with 27 points.

Titus Andrus had an outrageously good game as he rushed for 273 yards and four TDs while picking up 12.4 yards per carry. Those four rushing touchdowns gave him a new career-high. Ryan Rothenberger was another key player, rushing for 58 yards.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Pleasant Valley was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 338 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 194 rushing yards in four consecutive matchups dating back to last season.

When it comes to explaining why Central Catholic lost, don't look at Chase Perino. Despite the final result, he picked up 146 receiving yards and one score, and also punched in one rushing score.

Pleasant Valley will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Inderkum at 7:15 p.m. on September 5. As for Central Catholic, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 52-28 loss against St. Mary's on the 29th.
