Football Recap: Pleasant Valley Starts Season with Victory Against Central Catholic + How To Watch

Pleasant Valley had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They put the hurt on the Central Catholic Raiders with a sharp 41-21 win on Friday. The score was close at halftime, but the Vikings pulled away in the second half with 27 points.

Titus Andrus was nothing short of spectacular: he rushed for 273 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 12.4 yards per carry. He really tore up the turf during one magnificent 76-yard run. Another player making a difference was Ryan Rothenberger, who rushed for 58 yards.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Pleasant Valley was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 338 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 194 rushing yards in four consecutive contests dating back to last season.

Despite the loss, Central Catholic still got an impressive performance from Chase Perino, who picked up 146 receiving yards and one score, and also punched in one rushing score.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Pleasant Valley will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Inderkum at 7:15 p.m. on September 5. As for Central Catholic, they will face off against St. Mary's at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
