North Phoenix Preparatory Academy and Anthem Prep squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but North Phoenix Preparatory Academy had to settle for second. They fell just short of the Eagles by a score of 3-2. The Gladiators' defeat signaled the end of their 11-game winning streak.

North Phoenix Preparatory Academy wouldn't go down easily and took Anthem Prep into a fifth set but they suffered a heartbreaking six-point loss. The match finished with set scores of 22-25, 25-22, 21-25, 25-21, 15-9.

Despite the loss, North Phoenix Preparatory Academy still got an impressive performance from Coco Veatch, who had 37 digs and two aces. Veatch has been hot, having posted ten or more digs the last five times she's played.

Peyton Pfefferkorn was the offensive standout of the contest as she had 16 digs and two aces. Mabel Rosenmeyer also deserves some recognition as she had her first kill of the season.

North Phoenix Preparatory Academy's loss dropped their record down to 21-5. As for Anthem Prep, they are on a roll lately: they've won 18 of their last 21 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 22-6 record this season.

North Phoenix Preparatory Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Anthem Prep, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 3-1 defeat against Cicero Prep Academy on the 8th.
