Soccer Game Preview: Longmont vs. Centaurus + Official Tickets

Longmont is 2-8 against Centaurus since October of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Trojans will venture away from home to challenge the Warriors at 6:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Longmont took a loss when they played away from home last Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Mead with a sharp 5-1 victory. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for Longmont's offense, which had struggled in the games prior.

Meanwhile, Centaurus had already won five in a row and they went ahead and made it six on Thursday. Their defense stepped up to hand the Golden Eagles a 4-0 shutout. Given Centaurus' advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado soccer rankings (they are ranked 18th, while Frederick are ranked 117th) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

Centaurus hit Frederick with a three-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Tristan Helfert (2), Marius Salzberger, and Jack Lyle.

Centaurus' win bumped their record up to 8-4. As for Longmont, their victory was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-2-1 and their overall record up to 7-3-2.

Longmont came up short against Centaurus in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, falling 2-0. Can the Trojans avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
