Softball Game Preview: Sherrard Tigers vs. Hall Red Devils

Sherrard is a perfect 4-0 against Hall since April of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Saturday. The Tigers will be playing in front of their home fans against the Red Devils at 10:00 a.m. Sherrard will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each matchup than the last.

Sherrard is returning to their home field after beating Mercer County on theirs, despite the fact Mercer County has dominated at home this season. The Tigers came out on top against the Golden Eagles by a score of 11-6 on Thursday. The victory continues a trend for the Tigers in their matchups with the Golden Eagles: they've now won eight in a row.

Sherrard got a massive performance out of Makenzy Moran, who fired off two home runs, five RBI, and three runs while going 4-for-5. Those five RBI gave Moran a new career-high. Nadia Anderson was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run, four RBI, and two runs.

Sherrard hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least four batters in seven consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Hall fell victim to Illinois Valley Central and their airtight pitching crew on Friday. They lost 10-0 to the Grey Ghosts. The Red Devils haven't had much luck with the Grey Ghosts recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.

Sherrard's win bumped their record up to 13-3. As for Hall, their loss dropped their record down to 4-12.

Hall's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Sherrard hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .361. It's a different story for Hall, though, as they've only averaged .253. Will they be able to contain Sherrard's hitters?

Sherrard took their victory against Hall in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 12-1 score. Do the Tigers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Red Devils turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
