Basketball Game Preview: North Johnston Panthers vs. Beddingfield Bruins

North Johnston is 1-9 against Beddingfield since January of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The North Johnston Panthers will host the Beddingfield Bruins at 6:00 p.m. North Johnston will be coming into the match with an undefeated record on the line.

Last Tuesday, everything went North Johnston's way against Franklin Academy as North Johnston made off with a 49-29 victory. The Panthers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight contests by 20 points or more this season.

North Johnston found their leader in sophomore Amiyah Grimes, who posted 17 points along with six assists and six steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Emma Sheetz, who scored seven points and three steals.

Meanwhile, Beddingfield took a blow against Goldsboro on Tuesday, falling 75-34. The loss continues a trend for the Bruins in their matchups with the Cougars: they've now lost four in a row.

North Johnston pushed their record up to 13-0 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 22.4 points per game. As for Beddingfield, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-10.

North Johnston was able to grind out a solid victory over Beddingfield in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, winning 54-47. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Beddingfield's Natasha Marshall, who had 14 points in addition to six assists and six steals.
