Baseball Recap: Clover Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Clover had lost four straight, but after bumping their record up to 13-15 on Tuesday that streak is in the rearview. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Dutch Fork Silver Foxes, sneaking past 7-5. This was a revenge game for the Eagles: when they faced off against the Silver Foxes on Monday, they had to take a 10-8 defeat.

Justin Cox looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than two walks in 11 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Tyler Fan was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base. He is becoming a predictor of Clover's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 2-1 (and 11-14 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Briggs Lessmeister, who went 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.

As for Dutch Fork, with the loss, they broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 14-11. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat they have suffered since March 5th.

On Dutch Fork's side, Ethan Offing made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with one run and one double.

Clover will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Silver Foxes: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled on Thursday.
