While Helix didn't have the best season last year (they finished 12-18), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They came out on top against the Maranatha Christian Eagles by a score of 54-45 on Tuesday. Winning may never get old, but the Highlanders sure are getting used to it with their fourth in a row.

Helix's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jason Black led the charge by shooting 50% from the field on his way to 19 points and four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaden Harden, who posted eight points and four steals.

When it comes to explaining why Maranatha Christian lost, don't look at Cole Niguidula. Despite the final result, he went 5-for-9 to rack up 14 points. Niguidula is also on a roll when it comes to three-point shooting accuracy, as he's posted one of at least 50% in the last three games he's played. Adrian Ownbey was another key player, shooting 42% from the field en route to 10 points.

Helix's victory bumped their record up to 6-2. As for Maranatha Christian, the defeat snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 4-4 record.

Helix wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 54-32 loss against Torrey Pines on the 11th. As for Maranatha Christian, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 54-40 defeat against Mission Hills on the 10th.
