Basketball Recap: Independence Comes Up Short

Independence was the 74-62 winner over Bearden when they last played one another back in December of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. The Independence Eagles fell 64-55 to the Bearden Bulldogs on Saturday. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 27th, while the Bulldogs are ranked second).

Independence's loss dropped their record down to 7-4. As for Bearden, their win bumped their record up to 13-1.

Independence will be taking part in a tournament against Pope John Paul II at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Bearden, they will take on Sullivan East in a tournament on Thursday.
