Softball Recap: Brusly Beats West Ouachita for Their Fifth Straight Victory

Brusly had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 12 runs) and they went ahead and made it five on Saturday. They walked away with a 10-6 victory over the West Ouachita Chiefs.

Abigail Heidbrink looked comfortable as she pitched three innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up a single walk any time she's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Brusly let Abby David and Brooklyn Monk run wild. David went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs, while Monk went 2-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. That's the most runs Monk has posted since back in March of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Zoe Fabre, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

Brusly's win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-3. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.2 runs on average over those games. As for West Ouachita, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-5.

Looking ahead, Brusly is taking a road trip to face off against Natchitoches Central at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Brusly's pitching crew has only allowed 3.5 runs per game this season, so Natchitoches Central's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for West Ouachita, they will be playing at home against St. Frederick at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. St. Frederick is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10.7 runs per game this season.
