Basketball Recap: Grant Park Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Rigo Venegas and Ian Hamann

Grant Park was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat dating back to last season. The contest between the Dragons and the Donovan Wildcats didn't end well, with the Dragons falling 45-31. On the bright side, the 31- point performance marked the Dragons' highest-scoring matchup to date.

Grant Park's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Ian Hamann, who posted ten points along with six boards and three blocks, and Rigo Venegas, who had nine points and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Tony Valerio, who scored two points and five rebounds.

Donovan got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Jayden Mitton out in front who put up 13 points and seven boards. Those 13 points gave Mitton a new career-high. Preston Harrington-Dewitt was another key player, putting up nine points in addition to six rebounds and five assists.

Grant Park's defeat dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Donovan, their record is now 3-1.

Coming up, Grant Park will venture away from home to challenge Clifton Central at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Donovan, they have already played their next game, a 53-37 loss against Lowpoint-Washburn on the 6th.
