Recap: Martinsville Bluestreaks vs. Dieterich Movin Maroons
This season hasn't been kind to the Martinsville Bluestreaks, who are still winless after their seventh contest. They were beaten by Dieterich 44-16 on Thursday. While losing is never fun, Martinsville can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 677th, while Dieterich is ranked 182nd).
Dieterich got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Miley Britton out in front who scored 13 points along with 5 rebounds and 5 steals. That makes it two consecutive games in which Britton has scored at least 25% of Dieterich's points. Another player making a difference was Brittney Niemerg, who scored 11 points along with 9 rebounds.
Martinsville has yet to win a match at home this season, leaving them with a 0-7 record. As for Dieterich, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 8-3.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Martinsville will take on Cairo at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Dieterich will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Cumberland at 6:00 p.m. on December 18th.
