Football Recap: Cotopaxi Comes Up Short

Cotopaxi extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to nine on Saturday, dropping them down to 0-6. They took a blow against the Arickaree Bison, falling 59-7. The Pirates were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 47-7.

As for Arickaree, they moved to 3-5 with that win, which also ended their four-game losing streak. That 52 point margin sets a new team best for them this season.

It was another big night for Austin Wright, who rushed for 93 yards and five TDs on only 11 carries. He didn't just play on offense: he also picked up a sack, forced one fumble, and made 15 total tackles (4.0 for loss).

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Cotopaxi will host Sierra Grande at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Pirates will need to watch out since the Panthers have now posted at least 31 points every time they've taken the field this season. As for Arickaree, they will take on Genoa-Hugo at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Bison will be up against the Pirates' rather soft defense (which has allowed 46.5 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
