Recap: Horizon Honors Eagles vs. Chandler Prep Titans
Winning is just a little bit easier when you work as a team to rack up seven more assists than your opponent, a fact the Horizon Honors Eagles proved on Monday. They walked away with a 62-53 win over Chandler Prep. The win made it back-to-back wins for Horizon Honors.
Leading Horizon Honors to victory were Matthew McEnaney and Diego Torres. McEnaney dropped a double-double on 13 points and 18 rebounds, while Torres dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten rebounds. Those 16 points set a new season-high mark for him. Alex Rivers was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with five rebounds.
Despite the loss, Chandler Prep still got an impressive performance from Noah Ruiz, who scored 19 points along with seven rebounds and six assists. The contest was Ruiz's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Caleb So, who scored 13 points.
Horizon Honors pushed their record up to 10-6 with that victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.0 points per game. As for Chandler Prep, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-6 record this season.
Horizon Honors will head out on the road to face off against Santa Cruz Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Santa Cruz Valley focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 on Monday. As for Chandler Prep, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Sequoia Pathway Academy at 7:00 p.m. Sequoia Pathway Academy comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 19 points in their last three games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse.
