Baseball Recap: Grossmont Gets the Win

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against St. Augustine, Grossmont was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They skirted past the Cathedral Catholic Dons 4-2. For the Foothillers, this counts as revenge for the 5-0 victory the Dons walked away with the last time they faced one another back in March of 2024.

Grossmont got a great performance from Luis Camargo as he pitched 5.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits. Camargo has become a key player for the Foothillers: the team is 3-1 when he allows at most two earned runs, but 4-7 otherwise.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Tyler Holmes, who went 2-for-3 with one home run. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March. Colton Burke was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double.

Grossmont's win bumped their record up to 7-8. As for Cathedral Catholic, their record is now 8-6.

The future could be bright for both Grossmont and Cathedral Catholic: their next opponents haven't had the best luck recently. The Foothillers will look to extend Valhalla's four-game losing streak when they meet at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Cathedral Catholic will try to hand Bonita Vista their fifth-straight loss when the two meet at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
