Varela is a perfect 5-0 against Keys Gate since March of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Varela Vipers will head out on the road to face off against the Keys Gate Knights at 3:30 p.m. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Varela's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against West Broward, sneaking past 1-0. That's two games straight that the Vipers have won by just one run.

Andy Espinoza looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and only a hit while striking out six over four innings pitched.

Meanwhile, Keys Gate got the win against Immaculata-La Salle on Thursday by a conclusive 10-4.

Jose Bermudez tossed a big game, tossing 4.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits.

The victory made it two in a row for Varela and bumps their season record up to a perfect 2-0. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs over those games. As for Keys Gate, the win got them back to even at 1-1.

Everything went Varela's way against Keys Gate in their previous matchup back in April of 2023, as Varela made off with an 8-1 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Varela since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
