Recap: Chambers Cougars vs. North Mecklenburg Vikings
On Wednesday, the Chambers Cougars faced the North Mecklenburg Vikings in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Chambers had to suffer through a rough 98-70 loss at the hands of North Mecklenburg. Chambers has struggled against North Mecklenburg recently, as their contest on Wednesday was their third consecutive lost matchup.
Several Cougars players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Markus Kerr, who scored 20 points along with seven rebounds. Jordan Patton was another key contributor, scoring 16 points along with six rebounds.
Chambers' defeat dropped their record down to 9-5. As for North Mecklenburg, they pushed their record up to 12-2 with that win, which was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Chambers will take on West Charlotte at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. West Charlotte will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 168th, while Chambers is ranked 22nd). North Mecklenburg won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Hopewell at 7:30 p.m. on January 11th. Hopewell has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 957 points over their last 13 matchups.
