Basketball Game Preview: Elliot Christian Eagles vs. Stockton Christian Eagles

We've got a battle between Eagles coming up. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, Elliot Christian and Stockton Christian will really light up the scoreboard on Tuesday.

Last Thursday, Elliot Christian was able to grind out a solid victory over Delta Charter, taking the game 56-43. The win continues a trend for the Eagles in their matchups with the Dragons: they've now won three in a row.

Jeremy Nielsen was his usual excellent self, putting up 19 points in addition to six assists and six rebounds. He is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last ten games he's played. Justus Tokheim was another key player, scoring 13 points and four steals.

Elliot Christian smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in three consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Stockton Christian came tearing into Thursday's matchup with seven straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 39.1 points) and they left with even more momentum. They strolled past the Legacy with points to spare, taking the game 63-49.

Elliot Christian's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 13-12. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 28.3 points over those games. As for Stockton Christian, their win bumped their record up to 16-8.

Elliot Christian couldn't quite finish off Stockton Christian when the teams last played back in January and fell 62-59. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Stockton Christian's Jayden Chamblee, who posted 28 points. Now that Elliot Christian knows the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? There's only one way to find out.
