Football Game Preview: Catholic Central Shamrocks vs. Grand Ledge Comets + Official Tickets

The Catholic Central Shamrocks will square off against the Grand Ledge Comets at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Catholic Central is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt wants to keep things rolling.

Catholic Central is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat St. John's Jesuit 48-7. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 41-0.

It was another big night for Duke Banta, who threw for 207 yards and four touchdowns on perfect 10-for-10 passing. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in rushing yards (22). Cedric Williams was another key player, rushing for 75 yards and one TD on only nine carries.

Catholic Central was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 288 rushing yards. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 95.5 rushing yards per game earlier this season, but in their last five contests they've averaged 240.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 36 points the game before, Grand Ledge was a bit more limited in their matchup on Friday. They were dealt a 59-7 loss at the hands of DeWitt. The game marked the Comets' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Catholic Central's victory bumped their record up to 7-0. As for Grand Ledge, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 6-1.

Everything came up roses for Catholic Central against Grand Ledge in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, as the team secured a 55-0 win. Will the Shamrocks repeat their success, or do the Comets have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
