Basketball Recap: Forest Hills Yellow Jackets vs. Bandys Trojans
It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Forest Hills can now relate to. They took a hard 80-62 fall against the Bandys Trojans on Friday. While losing is never fun, the Yellow Jackets can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 313th, while the Trojans are ranked 152nd).

When it comes to explaining why Forest Hills lost, don't look at Amari Melton. Despite the final result, he posted 25 points and three steals. That's the most points Melton has posted since back in December of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Makhi Massey, who put up 11 points and four steals.
Bandys had a senior duo take command as Landon Vaughan almost dropped a double-double with 25 points and nine rebounds and Easton Ledford dropped a double-double with 17 points and 11 boards. Vaughan has been hot for a while, having posted 16 or more points the last 13 times he's played. Evan Robinson was another key player, going 5-for-9 en route to 13 points and five rebounds.
Forest Hills' loss dropped their record down to 13-15. As for Bandys, they pushed their record up to 20-7 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home.
Forest Hills does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Bandys, they will challenge Shelby on Tuesday. Shelby knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past 17 games -- so hopefully Bandys likes a good challenge.
