Basketball Game Preview: Atlantic Sharks vs. DeLand Bulldogs

The Atlantic Sharks and the DeLand Bulldogs will face off at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday without much rest having both just played. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Atlantic picked up another tournament win on Monday. They took down Pine Ridge 81-63. Given the Sharks' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 117th, while the Panthers are ranked 429th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, DeLand didn't have too much trouble with Flagler Palm Coast on Monday as they won 69-51.

Atlantic better keep an eye on Justin Suarez. He was instrumental in DeLand's win, going 6 of 9 from beyond the arc on his way to 35 points. Suarez's evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Robert Davis, who posted eight points and five assists.

DeLand was working as a unit and finished the game with 18 assists. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their assist total in three consecutive games.

Atlantic is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 12 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 17-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.5 points per game. As for DeLand, their victory bumped their record up to 11-8.

Atlantic beat DeLand 60-53 in their previous meeting on January 9th. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Suarez, who went 8 for 16 en route to 22 points.
