North Surry is 8-2 against Surry Central since December of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The North Surry Greyhounds will challenge the Surry Central Golden Eagles at 6:30 p.m. Surry Central took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on North Surry, who comes in off a win.

Last Thursday, North Surry earned a 51-43 win over West Wilkes. Given the Greyhounds' advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 50th, while the Blackhawks are ranked 276th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Surry Central has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They lost 69-46 to Forbush last Thursday.

North Surry will need focus on slowing down Jaycee Dalton, one of several Surry Central players who made an impact when they last played. She posted ten points and four steals. Dalton is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed four or more in the last five games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Layla Wall, who scored 12 points and six rebounds.

Even though they lost, Surry Central smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in 23 consecutive contests dating back to last season.

Surry Central's defeat dropped their record down to 9-3. As for North Surry, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 11-2.

North Surry was able to grind out a solid win over Surry Central in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, winning 53-43. Will North Surry repeat their success, or does Surry Central have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
